Ms. Katina Jones-Waples, principal of Sheep-Harney Elementary School, has been selected as the 2018 Principal of the Year for Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools. Ms. Jones-Waples has 13 years of experience in education, three of which have been dedicated to Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools. She began her career with ECPPS at Sheep-Harney Elementary as a principal in August 2014. Prior to her employment with ECPPS, Ms. Jones-Waples served in the capacity of teacher, reading specialist, AIG facilitator, instructional specialist and assistant principal.
Ms. Jones-Waples holds a bachelor's degree in psychology as well as elementary education. She also holds a master's degree in community service administration as well as educational leadership. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in curriculum design and educational psychology. Her certifications include: Principal, Curriculum Instructional Specialist, Superintendent and Exceptional Children.

"She has been an excellent leader for Sheep-Harney Elementary and is focused on providing a positive learning environment for the students and staff. We are proud of Ms. Jones-Waples and share in the excitement of this honor with her." The 2018 Principal of the Year was announced and recognized by Superintendent Cartner this week, during the district's monthly Leadership Team meeting.
