Spanish Dual Language Immersion
Our Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program offers students the unique opportunity to become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in both English and Spanish. Beginning in kindergarten, students are immersed in Spanish for a significant portion of their school day, learning core subjects like math, science, and social studies in Spanish. This approach not only helps students develop fluency in Spanish but also enhances cognitive skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. As students progress, they maintain strong academic performance in both Spanish and English, ultimately gaining proficiency in both languages. The program also fosters cultural awareness and appreciation, preparing students to thrive in diverse environments. By participating in this program, students gain a lifelong advantage in career opportunities, global communication, and personal growth.
Micro School Beginning with Grades 5 and 6
A micro school offers a personalized, student-centered learning environment that fosters deeper engagement and academic growth. With smaller class sizes, students receive more individualized attention from teachers, allowing for tailored instruction that meets their unique learning needs. This setting promotes a close-knit community where students can build strong relationships with peers and educators. Micro schools also provide greater flexibility in curriculum design, offering a more hands-on, project-based approach that encourages creativity and critical thinking. As a result, students in micro schools often experience a more supportive, focused, and enriching educational experience that prepares them for future success.
Aviation Academy at Northeastern High School
The Aviation Academy at Northeastern High School is an exciting new opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in aviation. Through a partnership with Elizabeth City State University, students will have access to college-level aviation coursework, giving them a head start in this dynamic field. As part of the program, students will gain hands-on experience in flight training, with the potential to earn their pilot's license by their senior year of high school. What's more, the entire cost of flight training and the pilot’s license will be fully funded by Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools, making this an exceptional opportunity. With expert instructors, state-of-the-art resources, and the support of ECSU, students will be equipped with the skills and certifications needed to take flight in their careers. The Aviation Academy provides an unparalleled educational experience that opens doors to a wide range of aviation careers.
International Baccalaureate Programs
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program offers a rigorous, globally recognized curriculum that prepares students for success in both higher education and their future careers. Beginning in 2025, River Road and Elizabeth City Middle Schools will offer the Middle Years IB Program, while Pasquotank County High School will introduce the Pre-IB Diploma Program, both providing students with a comprehensive, challenging academic experience. IB encourages critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness, fostering students who are well-rounded, adaptable, and ready for the demands of a rapidly changing world.
