Three PCHS FFA members competed at the NC FFA State Livestock where they evaluated both breeding and market classes of various livestock species. There were over 800 FFA members and advisors in attendance and was the largest livestock judging competition NC has seen to date. The PCHS team consisted of Wil Haines, Deanna Halstead and Shelby Blynn. Overall the team placed 90th in the state out of 104 teams in the Senior Division. Wil Haines did especially well placing 14th individually out of 378 contestants. Deanna Halstead and Shelby Blynn were first time competitors and did exceptionally well for being beginners. Congratulations to all!

Northeastern FFA’s Livestock Judging team placed fifth out of 103 teams at State competition in Raleigh. Tatum Wilson had the highest placing score and the seventh highest overall score. Connor Stevenson placed 12^th overall and Nate McKecuen was 18^th. There were 378 individual competitors in the senior division.

The team consisted of Wilson, Stevenson, McKecuen and Tyler Raduns. These students worked hard and had to judge breeding and market swine, breeding ewes and market lambs, breeding does and market goats, market steers and breeding heifers. Competitors also had to give oral reasons on breeding heifers and market hogs and answer questions on breeding ewes. The team activity was beef cattle selection.
