Welcoming Environment for All
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools (ECPPS) is committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students, staff, and families. Every child has the right to an education free from fear or discrimination. We will continue to uphold the policies and laws that protect the rights of our students, ensure their safety, and uphold the dignity of everyone in our school community.
We want to assure you that ECPPS remains committed to serving and supporting all students and their families. Our commitment to the following has not changed:
- Our main priority is to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment where every student can receive the highest quality education he or she deserves.
- All students in Pasquotank County have a constitutional right to a public education.
- ECPPS will always protect the legal rights of our students, families, and staff.
District Procedures Regarding ICE or Law Enforcement Requests
ECPPS follows established procedures to ensure that any requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or other law enforcement agencies are handled appropriately and in accordance with the law, while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students.
- No access without proper legal documentation: ICE officials or other agencies will not be granted access to school buildings, students, or records without a verified judicial warrant, court order, or subpoena.
- All requests are directed to the Superintendent’s Office: School staff are not authorized to respond independently. Any requests must be referred to the Superintendent’s Office.
- Legal review is required: Any documentation presented will be reviewed in consultation with legal counsel before any action is taken.
- Consistent procedures across all schools: All staff are expected to follow these protocols to ensure a consistent and appropriate response across the district.
ECPPS remains committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students.
