Superintendent
Greetings ECPPS Staff, Students, Families, and Community,
Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County are communities rich in history, spirit, and resources—truly a “Harbor of Hospitality!” I am honored to serve alongside such dedicated individuals who care deeply about the success and well-being of every student.
Originally from Four Oaks, NC, I graduated from East Carolina University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History Education, and earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership. I also completed the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA) at NC State University, an accelerated leadership program designed to equip educators for leadership roles in rural Northeastern North Carolina—a region that holds a special place in my heart.
My career in education began as a social studies teacher at SouthWest Edgecombe High School in Pinetops, NC. Later, I had the privilege of serving as principal of Martin Millennium Academy, a K-8 magnet school in Edgecombe County, where I am especially proud of the Spanish Dual Language Immersion program we introduced, as well as our efforts to narrow the achievement gap for all students. I have also served as a Communications Director, Secondary School Director, and Assistant Superintendent.
I firmly believe that the purpose of education is to equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to live fulfilling, choice-driven lives. To do this, we must collaborate creatively and think boldly about how we can transform our schools to meet the needs of the 21st-century learner. High educational outcomes for all students are not just a goal; they are a necessity.
As we continue to shape the future of education in our community, I am excited for the possibilities and the shared work ahead of us.
"Fired up, and ready to go!"
Keith
