Enroll Your New Student

All new student registrations must be completed online. In addition to completing the online registration form, you’ll need to bring proof of residency, a birth certificate, and other required documents to your child’s school.

Your child’s registration is not complete until the school has received these documents, along with everything listed on our New Student Enrollment Checklist.

Before enrolling, please be sure you know which school your child is assigned to attend. You can check this by reviewing our School Assignment Street Listings, which list school assignments by street and address range. If you need help determining your child’s assigned school or have questions about your address, please call the ECPPS Transportation Department at (252) 335-5684.

Once you’ve finished the online registration, please contact your child’s school directly to find out if any additional information is needed. If your child will need bus transportation services, please complete a Transportation Request Form.

Student Reassignments (Transfers) and District Release

Student Reassignment Requests

Student transfer requests are now considered student reassignment requests.

The official window to apply for a school reassignment (transfer) within the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School System for the 2025–2026 school year has now passed.

Families who wish to request a reassignment at this point in time should contact the school to which their child is currently assigned for further guidance.

Reassignment (transfer) requests are considered based on criteria outlined in ECPPS Policy Code: 4150 School Assignment.

Kindergarten students and those new to ECPPS should register at the school assigned to their home address. If a reassignment is approved, student records will be forwarded to the new school.

Families will be notified by email once a decision has been made. If a request is denied, the email will include instructions on how to appeal the decision to the Board of Education.

Students should remain enrolled at their assigned school until a decision is made by the Board.

District Release

District Release applications for the 2025-2026 school year are must be completed online by June 25th via our ECPPS Family Dashboard: ECPPS District Release.

If you live in Pasquotank County but your child attends school in another county, you will need to fill out a district release form. Once the form has been submitted, the school district Board of Education will need to approve the request. Please have your request in no later than June 25, 2025. This has to be done yearly. The BOE meeting dates are listed below. Once your child is approved the district that your child is going to attend will receive a letter from us and you will as well.

Student Discretionary Admission Form

Enrollment for Families Living Outside Pasquotank County:

Families who reside outside of Pasquotank County but wish for their child to attend a school within the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School System (ECPPS) must apply through the Student Discretionary Admission process.

Important Guidelines:

A separate form is required for each child.
Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to and from school if approved.
Approvals are valid for one school year only.
Submissions with false or misleading information will be rescinded.
Approved admissions may be revoked by the superintendent due to excessive absences or behavior concerns.
