Edmonds Resigns - Appointed Deputy Superintendent for NCDPI
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Board of Education met in an emergency meeting today to accept the resignation of Dr. Catherine Edmonds, ECPPS Superintendent, effective March 1, 2021. Dr. Edmonds has been afforded an opportunity to serve as Deputy Superintendent for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). She was appointed by Catherine Truitt, North Carolina State Superintendent-elect.
The Board of Education for Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools is appreciative of the leadership Dr. Edmonds has provided to our school district and community. The Board wishes her all the best in this new endeavor and is confident that she will continue to provide outstanding leadership serving as a Deputy Superintendent.
ECPPS has appointed Rhonda James-Davis, to serve as interim superintendent at the conclusion of Dr. Edmonds’ employment with ECPPS. The Board will discuss in future meetings, the next steps with regard to the search for a superintendent.
