To All Rising Seniors:

We are excited to share an incredible opportunity for you to serve as a Student Member of the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education for the 2026-2027 school year!

As a Student Board Member, you will represent your peers and provide valuable student perspective during discussions that help shape policies and decisions across our district.

To Be Eligible, You Must

  • Be a current junior and rising senior for the 2026-2027 school year
  • Be a regularly attending student at ECP Early College, Northeastern High School, or Pasquotank County High School
  • Have been enrolled at your current high school since the first day of the 2025-2026 school year
  • Have a minimum unweighted grade point average of 2.5 at the time of the selection process and maintain a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 2.5 during your term
  • Demonstrate positive behavior and be in good standing with conduct and behavior
  • Not be related to a current elected Board of Education member

Application Process

  1. Complete the online application form: Student Board Member Application 2026-2027
  2. Upload a student essay or letter explaining why you are interested in serving as a Student Board Member
  3. Upload three (3) letters of recommendation:
    • At least two must be from school staff or administrators
    • The third letter may be from a staff member or an acquaintance (not an immediate family member)

All required materials should be uploaded directly within the online application.


Selection Process

Applicants will be interviewed by the Board of Education. The Board may select one student from each high school, along with one alternate from each school.

Selected students will be notified at or before the regularly scheduled August Board of Education meeting, and their term will begin at the September Board meeting.


Deadline

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026.
