ECPPS Virtual Learning Option for Middle School

Important Information

ECPPS middle school students have the opportunity to apply for a virtual learning option for 2021-2022.  

The following provides important information regarding the virtual learning option:

  • Virtual options available at ECMS and RRMS
  • Each school will approve up to 75 total students to participate; 25 per grade level (6,7,8)
  • Students will be eligible to participate in sports at their school of assignment
  • Students will receive instruction from a teacher at their school of assignment
  • Canvas will be the Learning Management System (LMS) used for online instruction
  • Electives offered include: 
    • health and physical education
    • strategies for academic success
  • Chromebooks will be provided for all participating students - Hotspots will be available for students as needed
  • Should there be more than 25 eligible students apply per grade level, a lottery will be held to determine acceptance

Student Selection

Criteria considered for students applying for the virtual learning option:

  • Completed application
  • Students must not have more than 10 unexcused absences in 2020-2021
  • Benchmark assessments and grades will reviewed - Students must have demonstrated success during remote instruction previously
  • Interviews with students and parents will be conducted by a Virtual Learning Student Selection Committee

Please note that the virtual pilot is subject to change to comply with legislation that passes from the North Carolina General Assembly.
