Scholastic Summer Reading Program

Dear Parents,

Every student in ECPPS PK-4th grades were given a selection of five books for summer reading.  The books are built around an array of social and emotional learning topics.  The topics explore the five social-emotional learning skills aligned to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL):  understanding myself, managing myself, respecting others, building relationships, and making decisions.  The books are accompanied by a reading journal and a Social-Emotional Reading Journal, and a Family Guide to Social-Emotional Learning Through Literacy.  These supplemental materials may be used with any books.  Reading is a very integral part of the academic success for your child.  We encourage you to set regular times to read with your child, and have rich discussions about the reading.  We wish you a great summer, and Happy Reading!
