Hello Students and Parents!

I am Crystal East and I am one of the health and physical education teachers here at River Road Middle. I am excited to get to know your students and see their potential grow in health and physical activities. I have been teaching middle school since 2012. I began my career at Gaston Middle School and later moved to ECMS in January of 2015. In 2017, I received the opportunity to be a Rocket and teach here at RRMS. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Chowan University and a minor in coaching.

I am a product of Elizabeth City Public Schools, having gone to Northside, Elizabeth City Middle, and graduating from Pasquotank County High School. In high school, I played volleyball and softball for my four years competitively, and table tennis recreationally.

I hold high expectations for our physical education students. They are expected to dress out every day while in the gym and actively participate when in health. We do a schedule of 2 weeks in the gym and 1 week in the health room. While understanding not everyone desires to be an athlete, I strive for all students to be engaged and at least try every activity we have to offer. Our goal is for students to leave our P.E class prepared for lifelong activities they can enjoy while staying fit throughout their lives.
